Alison B. Marsh, Founder

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me.

My name is Alison B. Marsh and I am the founder of Your Pregnant Core.

In 2011 I began extensive research in pregnancy and exercise, and developed the DK Body Pregnancy Pilates Method, NOW the Your Pregnant Core Pilates Certification  teaching certified Pilates instructors and fitness professionals how to CONFIDENTLY and SAFELY instruct pregnant and post-partum women.

I have been teaching Pilates since 2002, and am mat and equipment certified through the DK Body Balancing Method created by Dolly Kelepecz, who learned the Pilates method through Elizabeth Larkam,

In 2003, I graduated with a Bachelor in Dance Education, receiving a full scholarship through the program at UNLV. I danced professionally until 2005 in various shows in Las Vegas, most notably, as an acro – dancer in Follies Bergere.

In 2005, I graduated with a Bachelor in Social Work (BSW), also from UNLV.

I worked for Clark County Family Services in Nevada as a social worker for a few years before deciding that teaching Pilates was my passion, and started the transition to teach Pilates full-time.

I never thought I would be able to use my social work skills in my Pilates teaching, UNTIL I began educating other Pilates instructors, and learning that many instructors, despite proper training, do not feel prepared to teach.

Using my knowledge in psychology and personal growth – a large part of my social work training, I am able to now help new and seasoned Pilates instructors who struggle with lack of confidence in teaching, to hone their skills so that they can help the people who are waiting for them, specifically pre and postnatal women, and clients with diastasis recti.

I am also a posture specialist, having studied through the National Posture Institute.

I gave birth to my first biological child in July 2015, adding to a family of 2 step children and 2 adopted children. Her personal experience with pregnancy and exercise has broadened her knowledge and ability to share valuable information with other pregnant women and fitness instructors.

In 2015, Sharon Chapman, PMA-CPT and Education Specialist joined me to expand YourPregnantCore.com to Your Pregnant Core LLC, and developing a growing educational company for Pilates instructors in the area of pre and postnatal, and diastasis recti concentration.
